FLAGSTAFF — Quarterback Nash Brewer had two touchdowns, Jett Walker scored, but it wasn’t enough for a Show Low club that squandered a 21-0 lead in the first half in a 24-21 loss to Pusch Ridge on Friday night.

Brewer found tight end Preston Power to open the game’s scoring in the first quarter, making it 7-0, then ran for a score in the second quarter before Walker ran for a touchdown to make it 21-0.

The Lions (1-0, 0-0 3A South), however, scored 24 unanswered points in the second half, including 17 in the fourth quarter Friday at the Walkup Skydome to claim victory.

“Pusch Ridge is probably the best team in 3A and we’ve proven that we can compete with them,” Brewer said via text to AzPreps365.com. “We will see them again in the playoffs.”

The Cougars (0-1, 0-0 3A East) and Pusch Ridge were Final 4 teams a season ago in the 3A state playoffs, both losing to their respective opponents (Thatcher and Eastmark).
