Canyon del Oro defeated Pusch Ridge 6-3 on Wednesday to improve to 5-0 on the year. The Dorados went in ranked No. 13 in Division II and Pusch Ridge (5-1) was No. 5 in Division III.

The Lions took second place in D-III last year to Phoenix Country Day and the Eagles are currently the top-ranked team in D-III again with a 4-0 record. Pusch Ridge has seven state championships dating back to 2007 with the last three coming in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Canyon del Oro has six state championships but they all came in an incredible run from 1975 to 1980.

In the match on Wednesday, junior Estelle Fetsis and sophomore Emma Bartruff won their respective matches for Pusch Ridge and the pair combined to win the top doubles match over Scarlett Bakken and Jordan Crawford for the three points scored. The Dorados dominated the rest of the competition for the 6-3 victory.

Bakken and Crawford made it to the D-II semifinals last year as the No. 6 seed and Fetsis made it to the D-III quarterfinal round in singles competition as the No. 6 seed. Bartruff went to the second round as a freshman.

The Dorados will host No. 45 Flowing Wells (3-2) on Thursday and Pusch Ridge will travel to unranked Catalina (0-1) on the same night. The Trojans are unranked because the program only has seven matches scheduled and teams need eight to qualify for the playoffs.
